CATEGORIES / ELIGIBILITY
On induction of a Member in any Club, Regular Membership will be extended as under:
Regular Category A
  • Selection from persons registered in Category A of the P.D.O.H.A. or DHA City Karachi with following conditions:-
a.
  • All Armed Forces / Services / Defence Services establishment Officers (Serving / Retired) irrespective of their length of service are eligible for the Category A membership.
b.
  • Individual serving in Federal Government Strategic Organizations may apply for Category 'A' membership of DA Clubs, provided, (if they are registered as Category A member with DHA) these Officers are treated equal to Government employees paid out of Defence establishment.
c.
  • DHA Clubs may accept/reject the membership of Category A member in the light of their respective Club Rules.
Regular Category B
a.
  • Selection from Civilian persons Registered in Category B of the P.D.O.H.A. or D.H.A City Karachi.
Special Member Gratis A & B
Government Servants / Dignitaries / Diplomats may be granted special membership (Gratis) for the duration of their stay in Karachi to be renewed each year. For the Special Membership (Gratis) the applicant may apply to Administrator DHA, (who on assessment will allocate the Club to each applicant keeping in view the authorization / holding of that category of membership in each Club.
Special Membership Gratis A
a.
  • Grade 21 / equivalent and above officers.
c. Entrance fee / Security deposit will be charged.
b.
Monthly subscription will be charged.
d.
Annual Renewal fee will be charged.
Special Membership Gratis B
a.
  • Grade 19-20 Officers.
c.
  • Entrance fee / Security deposit will be charged
b.
  • Monthly subscription will be charged.
d.
  • Annual Renewal fee will be charged.
OFFICIAL MEMBERSHIP
Club Membership of DA Clubs may be extended to officers of Head Office DHA, its Directorates and the faculty of DHA Schools, Colleges and Universities. The details are as follows:
Eligibility
a. DHA officers of BPS-17 and above.
b. Faculty of DHA Educational Institutions of BPS-17 and above who have been allowed to acquire official membership in their contract / appointment letter.
c. Official Membership will cease on termination / resignation / retirement from DHA service.
d. Only officers of BPS-19 and above would be allowed to acquire membership of Major Clubs, others will be adjusted in Standard Clubs.
Diplomats
Members of Diplomatic Corps at Karachi are granted membership in this category on production of following documents. Executive Committee of respective Clubs may fix / revise the rates of membership fee /monthly subscription
Foreigners
a. Non-Pakistanis posted/serving in Karachi are granted membership in this category as per following rules. Executive Committee of respective Club will fix / revise the rate of monthly subs after approval of Chairman.
b. Membership will be for a maximum period of 5 years
c. Prospective member will produce the passport, work permit and recommendation letter of his employer / company.
Corporate Membership
a.
  • Corporate Membership is extended to companies for their officers the rates of this category are higher than Cat 'B'. The duration of Corporate Membership shall be for a maximum of 15 years of any Club, upon payment as per Club rates per person.
b.
  • The Company may change its nominee on intimation to the Club any number of times after payment of prescribed fee within this duration.
c.
  • Selection procedure would be similar to regular members however, for commencement of membership a minimum of three persons will have to be introduced with no upper limit being fixed.
d.
  • On each change in membership, Rs. 100,000/- will be paid to the Club by the Company / member.
Temporary Mess Membership
a.
  • Temporary Mess Membership will be extended only to serving armed forces officers posted in Karachi/Malir Cantt. Mess membership would automatically terminate on retirement / posting out of the officer, even if the family has to stay back in Karachi/Malir Cantt.
b.
  • Temporary Mess Membership entitles a member and his family to avail all Clubs facilities.
c.
  • Mess Membership will be granted after obtaining such a request from the Unit/Formation Headquarters.
d.
  • Entrance Fee and Security Deposit for Major and Standard Clubs would be equivalent to 20% of Category A, with annual renewal fee according to the respective Club Rules.
e.
  • The amount of security deposit will be refundable at the time of retirement/posting out of Karachi.
f.
  • An attested certificate duly authenticated by the officer's Unit/Formation Headquarters would be submitted to the respective Club.
g.
  • Married children or children above 28 years of age cannot avail the facilities of Club.
h.
  • If the outstanding bill exceeds 80% of the security Deposit, the credit facility will be stopped.
j.
  • Clearance of Monthly Bill will be the responsibility of Unit/Formation Headquarters concerned.
k.
  • Clearance certificate to be obtained from the Club prior to retirement/ posting of officer. This will also be the responsibility of the Unit/Formation Headquarters.
  • Note: Not applicable for Special Category Clubs.
Temporary Dinning Membership
a.
  • Temporary Dinning Membership will be extended only to serving armed forces officers posted in Karachi/Malir Cantt. Temporary Dinning Membership would automatically terminate on retirement / posting out of the officer, even if the family has to stay back in Karachi/ Malir Cantt.
b.
  • Temporary Dining Membership entitles a member to avail only the dining facilities. He and his family will not be allowed to utilize sports facilities. Dinning member does not pay any subscription, so he may be allowed to attend functions arranged by the Club on payment.
c.
  • Entrance Fee and Security Deposit for Major and Standard Clubs would be equivalent to 10% of Category A, with annual renewal fee according to the respective Club Rules.
d.
  • Dining Membership will be granted after obtaining such a request from the Unit/Formation Headquarters.
e.
  • The amount of security deposit will be refundable at the time of retirement/posting out of Karachi/Malir Cantt.
f.
  • An attested certificate duly authenticated by the officer's Unit/Formation Headquarters would be submitted to the respective Club.
g.

Special Temporary Membership (Gen Offrs Posted at Karachi)
a.
  • Special Temporary Membership is extended to Gen Offrs posted at Karachi of any one Club, free of entrance fee, security deposit and monthly subscription.
Permanent Membership
  • After completion of 5 years of regular membership a member may apply for permanent membership after depositing requisite fee. The Executive Committee of the respective Club would consider approval of such requests. Conditions and procedure are as follows Conditions:-
a.
  • Should have five years of unbroken period of membership with minimum of three years as present member.
b.
  • Should have been regular in payment of bills without receipt of reminders from the Club for the last three years.
c.
  • Should not have been suspended due to misconduct for last seven years. (The conduct of children will also be taken into consideration).
d.
  • Should not have been suspended / terminated due to non payment of Club bills for the last three years.
e.
  • Absentee fee according to the respective Club to be deposited in advance.
f.
  • If the member is also a member of another Club of Defence Authority, he/she and his/her households cannot use the facilities of that Club also, during the absentee period.
g.
  • Absentee membership fee will not be charged to the serving Armed Forces.
h.
  • Officers and DHA Serving Officers, However if during any calendar month, the officer / family attends the Club facilities, full subscription for that particular month will be charged.
ABSENTEE MEMBER
  • The rules of absentee membership are as follows:-
a.
  • Minimum period of absentee is Six months.
b.
  • Maximum period of absentee is Five years.
c.
  • Any previous arrears/ dues should be cleared in FULL.
d.
  • Members/Households cards are to be deposited in the Club.
e.
  • Absentee fee according to the respective Club to be deposited in advance.
f.
  • If the member is also a member of another Club of Defence Authority, he/she and his/her households cannot use the facilities of that Club also, during the absentee period.
g.
  • If prior to completion of six months period the Club facilities are used then for the entire period full subscription would be charged.
h.
  • Absentee membership fee will not be charged to the serving Armed Forces.
j.
  • Officers and DHA Serving Officers, However if during any calendar month, the officer / family attends the Club facilities, full subscription for that particular month will be charged.
RULES OF GUEST MEMBERSHIP
To accommodate household members other than the registered with Club and near relatives of members, guest membership can be extended as per the respective Club rates/conditions as per following Conditions/Rules:-
Conditions / Rules
a.
  • Written request by a member (Proforma available in Club office).
b.
  • Two passport size photographs and photocopy of CNIC / Form 'B'.
c.
  • Membership will be extended for a maximum period of 3 months and minimum of one month.
d.
  • No Car sticker will be issued.
e.
  • Sponsor members to ensure that his/her guests follow the rules of the Club.
f.
  • Guest membership will be terminated without any notice in case of violation of rules.
g.
  • Club Rules by a guest member and action will be initiated against the sponsor member.
h.
  • Guest membership is not transferable.
j.
  • Guest membership fee is non refundable.
k.
  • No borrowing of books from the library.
m.
  • Catering only on cash payment.
n.
  • Guest members are not allowed to entertain guests.
o.
  • Guest Card once issued will remain valid for the duration of three months provided monthly renewal is being done regularly.
HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS
a.
  • Rules regarding household members are as follows:-

  • Male children can continue as household members up to 28 years of age or the date of marriage whichever is earlier.
c.
  • Age limit for female household members is 30 years or date of marriage which ever is earlier.
d.
  • Even after attaining the age limit of 30 years, female household members can be extended Club membership till they get married on written request by their parents that they are still unmarried and are dependent on them (not serving any where).
e.
  • On attaining the age limit or getting married, household membership card must be returned to Club office, failing which amount of Rs. 1,000/ - will be charged per month till the return of Club Card.
f.
  • It is obligatory for a member to forward requisite information about the marriage of his / her ward and / on attaining prescribed age limit.
g.
  • Household members are not allowed to entertain guests.
h.
  • Grand Son / Grand daughter of member can be provided household status provided, his/her both the parents have expired.
ELEGIBILITY / CRITERIA SENIOR CITIZEN MEMBERSHIP
a. Members of 65 years and above will be categorized as senior citizen members. Their monthly subscription will be reduced to 50% of the existing rates of respective category.
MISCELLANEOUS RULES AND PROCEDURES
  • To ensure smooth management of the Clubs miscellaneous rules and procedures to be followed as given below:-
  • Rules & Procedure for Induction of New Members
a.
  • Prospective Profile proforma will be issued on written request and production of CNIC of person wishing to acquire the membership of respective DA Club.
b.
  • Profile/proforma will be filled in own handwriting by the prospective member and his/her spouse will be submitted in the Club's Office.
c.
  • On receipt of Prospective Proforma, the prospective members along with his/her spouse and his/her Sponsor and Seconder will be invited for the meeting with Secretary and Addition Secretary of the Club.
d.
  • The prospective member if found suitable, the Club would issue the membership form to the prospective member.
e.
  • The prospective member on receipt of membership form will deposit 50% membership Entrance Fee and full Security Deposit and his/her name will be kept on waiting list. The prospective member during the waiting period till final interview by Club Executive Committee will not be allowed to use the club facility.
f.
  • On his/her turn, the prospective member along with his/her spouse will be invited for introductory meeting with Club Executive Committee.
g.
  • On approval of Executive Committee, membership will be extended and the prospective member will be asked to deposit the remaining 50% of the membership fee of respective Club.
h.
  • In case the Club Executive Committee rejects the award of the membership to any potential candidate, the complete Entrance Fee and Security Deposit will be refunded to the candidate after the adjustment of Club dues if any.
j.
  • Secretary of the Club will not issue temporary Club cards to any prospective member prior to completion of above explained procedure of club membership and his/her introductory meeting with the Executive Committee.
CLOSING OF MEMBERSHIP
  • The regular membership will be closed/ terminated by Secretary of the Club on following occasions:
a.
  • Voluntary Closure.
b.
  • On non-payment of bills/clearance of dues.
c.
  • On Misconduct (To be approved by the Chairman/ Executive Committee of Club).
